Time will tell, he's still living off his persona just now.
His biggest managerial trait up until now is spending tens of millions of pounds on tons of players, we haven't really seen the tactical nous or the man management skills.

I think hes done a good job, not a case of not being able to cut it I don't think.
Sunderland have long been a club that goes up and down the divisions and they would be in the position they're in now if it was another manager. A manager can only do so much, its down to the players to get the results.

When he took over at Sunderland, they were bottom of the Championship  He got them into the Preem that same season.

He did ok imo nothing better, he was bankrolled to the Premiership then spent £60 million in 2 seasons and is now in the bottom 3.

People forget he spent about £15million getting them from the foot of the CCC to the Prem. That's not skill. Their position when he took over was a false one too.

He'd be best placed going back to Cobh Ramblers and learning his trade, one of the greatest players of his generation but he can't live off the back of that in management.

great player, but then loads of great players dont make great managers so.....
i think the fact that he will have millions in the bank and doesnt need to work will have been a major factor, i think many of todays top players probably wont make good managers as they dont need to work. take a good player from the 80's on poor wages in comparison to todays players and he will have needed to work to earn a living so it means more to them, i think a lot of the more talented managers in the future may well come throught the lower leagues and will be people that have to keep working. not all but i think the wages mean players like ronaldo, henry, zidane etc etc etc wont bother with staying in the game after they retire as they wont need it.

I agree with that Eddie.
I reckon managers who start out in the lower leagues make better managers, as they have to work to build up respect before they get noticed by the bigger clubs.
As a rule, the best managers havn't normally been the best players. Ferguson, Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Benitez, none were really great players, but all good managers.
