...why I need a new sprig clock spring for my steering wheel?

I had a Mountney steering wheel.

Put standard VX steering wheel back on last week (we forgot to unplug battery!!)

Airbag light is now permanently on.

Garage plugged car in and said it's a fault coming up as driver's airbag sprig and needs a new sprig, cost for one is £48.36 plus VAT.

Im confused, how is the sprig broken?

Sounds like he's trying to con you.

Try a diff garage for 2nd opinion.
