I have a tapping noise from my engine . .

After i ws going onto the motorway i missed a gear nd it went into second the revs went past 7000 for like a second

The car still runs fine but thers a tap its not the loudest of taps anyone got any ideas?

If it's a result of over-revving then it could well be 1 or more valves hit a piston bending them.

It's hard to tell though without checking a few things.

Were you on the limit in 3rd when you missed 4th?

Could have damaged a lifter, take the rocker cover off and have a look for any damage

i tuk the rocker cover over day all seems to be fine and its not lost any power ect

I'd just go with a worn lifter down to the massive over-rev tbh.

mines th same was at high revs in 4th went for 5th hit 3rd ndnow mine taps

same thing as what i did then lol but mine went to about 8000rpm

this was y mine was tappin but it only did it when goin at high rpm and cold starts lol its old sealer of the sump
