Well lit and sharp though matt

Used the 50mm and the standard flash with a paper hanky over it as a diffuser

PMSL @ Hanky. Did you not get a plastic diffuser with your flash? Get a homemade softy box made. Me and a mate used wire, some semi opaque plastic and a bin bag to make ours and it works mint Basically made something that resembled a crap lamp shade but you cant knock how it works!

As for the edge, it really isn't that bad at all, nothing to majorly worry about, i doubt they will even notice it. Could just trim them out using a less feathered edge, 1px perhaps.

If the fat red man doesnt bring you an SB-600 just save up a bit more and get the 800. Its not much extra so may aswel get the best one. I want a 2nd one

Also i agree matt, they will do what all women do and be wondering if their hair was ok and if they look fat etc etc

what about adding a very small amount of shade to a section of the background? Try and give it some depth

Why are they cropped out, is it for any reason?

Usually unless it's cut out 100% perfect they look bad, i am picking up a few iffy spots which I noticed straight away, like the hand on shoulder for example, she has a square little finger it seems.

Can't you leave the background in?

For me, the detail is spot on, but i really cant get away with the background, needs to be something there for me, some sort of texture if you get me?

Just looks like its been cut out & stuck on white card.

Have you tried a different colour for the background, grey or black?

My guess it that he couldn't find a white back ground to pin them to so he has had to snap then,C+P them on the a PS White BG.

I think that if it was printed (small-ish) no-one would notice the little niggle bits.

IMO though i could give the bg a slightly darker shade so its a little grey (only a squidgy touch though).

Fair play though matt
