I've never done 6miles runs exactly, used to train 2 guys for marine training before they went in (they wanted to get fit so asked me to set pace at long distances) and we did 10 mile runs at 1hr 25mins, bearing in mind our first 5 miles were slower than the back 5miles.
So I would say anything between 45mins-1hr.

World Record is 27.11 so someone on corsasport will probably have run a 27 flat. Think it used to take me about 50mins but that was on a treadmill and a low level of fitness, then again once you are in a race you will smash your training times, (as long as you don't set off too quick and crash and burn!)

i heard that i should aim for 7 minute miles which would mean about 45 minutes to complete the whole thing. just wanted to check before i start training. i've never been much of a runner though so i'll probably do it in 1 hour. i'd rather be out on my bike as my knees are fucked from sports as a kid. i'm still gonna give it a go though.

Will be hard if you haven't done it before, its quite a long distnce, but if you stick at it it will soon start to come down. I'd be tempted to try running for an hour not measuring the distance, see how that goes, If you find that easy try a set distance, see how that goes, then work your way to going faster or further dependant on the initial runs. The cold weather can sometimes make it a lot harder too, specially if you end up gasping.
