I was cruising PH a while back and stumbled across a little gem, this old MK1 escort mexico. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/810845.htm I was never before aware of the race it was used in, which I noticed featured a fantastic entry list, and drew it to my dads attention. We ended up finding loads of old videos on youtube containing fantastic footage of some old saloon races.

This being footage from the original Trophy race...

This is also some edge of your seat classic racing at a circuit in Crysal Palace? Never even knew it existed. Great to hear Murray walker and to imagine this was once on tv...

Another cool vid I found...

Kept me entertained for a bit anyway

Yeah you can almost smell it, especially on the second vid. Its quite frustrating to watch aswell actually, the big 5.7 litre v8 camaro cant handle and holds up the 1.6 escort on the corners but then makes up for it on the straights. Just shows you that its not all about power. Great driving too.

some sideways action too, tracks were so narrow. Vauxhall Viva gotta love them, Must of been abit of a feel tearing out of a corner onto a stright in the camaro

Video 3 that mini crash pair of broken glases and a broken tooth, shit me that must have been scary, no rollcages , the car looked in a right state roof and seats disapeared

I went to the Crystal Palace revival meet in the summer of 1998 if I remember correctly.

It was a lovely day.

They only used part of the course and it was a hill climb event but I got to see a tarmac 6R4, amongst other cracking stuff go up the course.
