Epson are good. I have an A3, 5 colour one which cost around £250 which i use for printing my portfolio stuff and photos.

Just cost me over £50 for black and colour ink cartridges for it

Mine is the Stylus Photo 1290, make sure you buy good quality paper too.

Would it not be cheaper to just order prints online?

I've been making up batches where if you order enough they only cost about 4p each for small prints, or about 50p for A4.

This is exactly the route i've taken.

I'm in costco quite a lot and they have a printing service, far cheaper than buying a printer/paper/ink.

id prefer a printer as i can print it there and then saves waiting for it to turn up and potentially not look good when printed.

See what you mean, but Photobox I've been using get stuff to me for a very cheap delivery charge in about 2 days if you order early in the week (eg. order monday, arrives wednesday).

Only thing you have to watch is processing correctly as Photobox ALWAYS print a touch too dark.

A print always tends to come out darker than it looks on screen andy.

Maybe, but photobox print with dark inks or something - I've had the same photos printed with them and another online company and the difference is incredible - just send the files off slightly over-exposed and they come back perfect.

Can you not get a colour profile for the printer they use, or just brighten things a tad.

I asked for a profile and they wouldn't give me one - gave some crap about they have various machines all printing differently or something - I just made a preset in Lightroom to OE and its all good now
