The seal round my sump has started to be leaking oil and my oil level was down to minimum so iv went to top it up so it does not run dry and i when i have taken the oil cap off to top the oil up there is white slime inside.
I got that white slime about 2 years ago when the head gasket went.Is this the head gasket going again or is it related to the worn oil sump gasket?

Was the head skimmed the last time the HG went?

If the sump gasket is leaking then it's possible it's gotten wet through there.

the white stuff could also related to short drives
if you make drives less then 10 miles and not long drives it could give sludge
but an HG could also be the problem
do an compression test to be sure

the slime is normal at this time of year, its just condensation in the oil, if the sump gasket is leaking too then moisture will get in that way too, mine used to do it in winter, go for a good drive and take the cap off when the engine is warm and i bet it has cleared

Is a pressure test a conclusive way to find out if your HG is away?

Pretty much yes. iirc, the liquid reacts with what would be exhaust gases in the coolant.
I wouldn't worry about the slime. I had this last year and got worried about headgasket. First bit of warm weather, it disappeared. Now it's back again.
Keep an eye on all the levels etc. Other symptoms of headgasket would be white smoke out the rear (obviously this is common in such cold weather, but proper smoke, not just 'steam'), using a lot of oil, mayo under the filler cap which is like whipped cream, no hot air coming through heaters etc.

easiest way is to put that stuff in the water bottle and it turns colour if the water has been contaminated, could be:
Head gasket
Short winter journeys
Sump Gasket
Cracked head
More than likely just short winter journeys, then failing that, the Sump gasket, unlikely to be the Head gasket if the job was done properly

i do alot of short journeys and the head was skimmed when it was done.i will call into my local garage tomorrow after work to book it in for the sump gasket to be done and will mention the mayo stuff and will go from there.
oh and i also noticed id only drips a few times when iv been out in the car but once it has cooled down it does not leak.
