I don't understand how you can possibly be conned into paying 3k over the term of the loan for some insurance.
I'd think my loan is 5k, i'd expect to pay back 5.5k(for example), why are they asking me to pay back 9k
I think something's up here, I'll go elsewhere.

I got a loan with A&L and they wouldnt give me the rate they quoted unless I took insurance, so I spoke to my mate who works for Black horse and said its against the law, so on the phone I get tell them that the are breaking the law and lady goes ok Ill resend you agreement without insurance.
Conning twats !

The terms and conditions are a fucking joke. What you should be asking is "Who in their right mind would take PPI".

Nope. They will take the settlement figure for the existing amount on your loan, and key a new loan over the remaining duration (In your case 24 months) and remove the insurance. If you're successful you'll also get a cheque for the amount you paid.

Well they tell you how much the insurance will be per month, without interest, so it always seems a LOT lower than it is.

I knew about it, but when I said "I don't want that" I was told that unless I took out the PPi I wouldn't get the money, as I was in financially messed up back then I just got on with it and paid it.
I'm the one laughing now though as I could be in for a windfall
I look at as a savings account.

Depends on who you contact. Call your bank itself and they'll put in their own investigation.

I'm following these steps, if they send me back a load of bullshit I go to Defcon 2 and start threatening Ombudsman.

Oh yes, I'm all over this. Like in 2006 when I got 5 years worth of bank charges back and spent it here...
