OK guys, I'm thinking of upgrading the hard drive in my xbox, but rather than buying a new microsoft one, I've seen tutorials on opening up the original HDD casing and replacing the original drive with a larger capacity one.
Does anyone have any experience with such an upgrade?? any ideas if the drive requires any special configuration before installation?? or can I simply format the drive using the xbox dashboard/system menu (then restore my data from a USB stick)

Upgrade Hard Drive
Thanks in advance chaps

Do you actually use your 360 enough to need to do that?

Here is a guide on how to upgrade from a 20GB to a 120GB. You can't go higher as the signature file will only recognise 120GB. Basically if you put a 300GB one in, it will still show as and only allow 120GB.
Download the 120gb signature file - use Google to find the hddss.bin
Here is the guide for it as well. www.mfg.me.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4205
Hope that helps you out!

Pete, yes I do as you can now install games to your HDD which makes loading them far quicker AND makes the console much quieter
Thanks Ren, thats a great help. Some sites talk about using 200 or even 400gb hard drives though. Might have a look if theres some kind of crack out there
