Does the fan work?

Test it by getting a length of heavy wire and sticking it in the two sides of the switch on the (drivers?) side of the rad with the ignition on. If the fan comes on, it's the switch that's buggered. If not, the fan's buggered.

I,m a bit confused you bought a skimmed head but did not fit it or you had a skimmed one fitted but put back the original ? anyway as stated change the rad temp sensor also can the stat be put in around the wrong way I did that in the past lol, and replace the expansion bottle cap often overlooked , was it a new water pump you fitted, also you may have a air lock in the system.

So you bought a new head for your engine and fitted the old one that you had taken off to replace instead?
