I've got a couple of mates who do it and compete in decent sized events. The guy I know best has got me in training twice a week at the moment, basically being his punch bag I'm really really enjoying it. However I don't want to start competing at all, I'm too much of a sap for real fighting

But as Sand-eel pointed out you will be able to dish out severe beat down as and when required

dont spend/waste any money on stuff/equipment untill you have had a few sparing sessions, alot of people never come back after sparing and realising its not the sport for them

Theres a club in Kirkintilloch mate. My mate had his first fight there, he won it by knockout and we had to make a rather sharp exit

I've been doing it for 18 months, training at least 3 times a week. Pretty much the hardest thing I've done and it continues to destroy me every session!

Started sparring after 3months () and I now know I can take a punch or two Cracked a few ribs and have lost count of black eyes, but its still awesome!

Good luck with it

I used to do it competitively, but certain circumstances at the time forced me to throw the towel in, it's handy to have in your armour aswell aslong as you have the killer instinct to go with it, if not then don't bother, just train for fitness/enjoyment.
