I have something like 500 texts a month, have looked through my bill and contracts and allsorts, but trying to find out if it works same as PAYG - 1MMS = 4SMS?

im pretty sure 1 mms = 3 sms but you could be right and it could be 4

4 If you add more than a picture, lots of text / background colour / sound etc etc

Does it come off your text allowance or does it charge you say 10px4 on top of your contract?

It comes off your texts, but charges you for the data useage.

I never get charged data usage for MMS and I'm on O2.

Methinks its worth a call to Customer Services, I hate calling these places, although saying that my previous dealings with O2 have been good....

I only used to get charged 1 of my 1000 free texts and no data.
Got unlimited texts and data now so don't really pay any attention to what I use anymore
