got a vid i need playing its a .avi file
windows media player wont open it, and i cant remember what i used to use on my old laptop, as i now have a new one
whats the best, quick, non-taking over programme to play it with which i can download for free.... real player?

A .avi file could be a wide number of codecs. If you don't know what codec it uses get yourself the Vista Codec Pack which has just about everything you'll ever need, don't be fooled by the name, it'll work on XP as well.

K-lite codec pack is usually added with most of the players i've downloaded as well
