The missus and I are considerig vissiting Scotland this summer, so I thought I'd check with you guys before blindly booking a hotel.

Now, we're not looking for 5-star hotels, but we don't want to stay in a hostel either.
We want to stay in Glasgow, but I'm not sure which area. Something central I guess.
We're hoping to find something close to the 60£ pr. night mark.

Any recommendations?

No thanks, that's for people who want to take holidays and stays in the hotel. Plus, it may be a little out of our pricerange!

Come to think of it, a simple bed 'n breakfast might be sufficient for our stay.

holiday inn in corstorphine (edinburgh) is perfect for you easy drive to glasgow and a brilliant hotel right next door to edinburgh zoo aswell we've been there for long weekend's 4 or 5 times now and had great service every time

I f its your first time here,consider Inverness,Dundee or Edinburgh.Far better than Glasgow IMO

Better in which way!? We'll be staying for 11 nights, so we talked about staying in Edinburgh half the time.

tbh mate edinburgh's more tourist orientated and would prob's suit you far more than glasgow would be able to walk the streets and feel kinda safer without thinking hmmmm who's that chav with the hood up walking towards me

So, Edinburgh and Dundee would be a safer bet!?
We only chose Glasgow 'cause it's the biggest.

I want to see both the classic culture, the nature and the everyday life of Scotland.
We want to move out of the country in a years time, so we need to decide on this vacation if Scotland is an option. But also, we just want to experience the country and have a good time (in your notoriously dreadful weather ).

Glasgow is a shitehole really

Sayed there a few times,

Probably not a bad place to live y all accounts, but I won't be visiting again

I'd say skiing is the best thing to do in Scotland at this time of year,

And visit loch ness, so I'd say Inverness

glasgow in the city center isnt half as bad as its being made out, aye theres neds but only if you go to the wrong bits

glasgow isnt half as bad as the people who dont stay here are making out, plenty to see and do, and not rammed full of up them self people like ediinburgh is

plenty to do in the city centre with the pubs and clubs, museums etc, and amazing scenery after a short drive

yeah theres neds, but theres neds in edinburgh, same thing really, they just talk a bit different

Everywheres got its good & its rough areas. If I was coming here visiting id probably want to be based around Edinburgh.

I live about 15 minutes outside of glasgow and work in the city centre, I think its a really good place. I found edinburgh etc crap compared to it for shopping etc.

Depending on your budget I would recommend

Jurys Inn, Right next to the River Clyde although right next the the railway, Also a 2 minute walk from buchan street (the main shopping street)

Or the Hilton Hotel which is up the other end of the city. I know you said reasonably priced but i stayed in the hilton in newcastle and it was only £80 incuding breakfast for 2 of us so may be worth checking out.

Come to Glasgow mate, you will have a good time. Not amzing in every aspect, but enough for you to sample some culture and good shops/ entertainment etc. The premier inn could be a shout, very central. If your staying for 11 nights Glasgow would be a good base, to then travel to Edinburgh (1 hr on train) or further north if you wanted.
