I'm coming into some money soon, and wanting to travel.. I mean, buy a camper (V-Dub) and drive.
Anything i need to look out for?
Anyone ever done it?
Just some general info on insurence etc.. please guys.

wouldnt know about insurance but i imagine something specialist.
Basic knowledge on how to fix minor/common problems on the vehicle you use. (along with tools and such)
Recovery options? or well enough money for a trip home should the car completly pack up.
passport (possibly) although do they checked??
cant think of anything else lol but im sure theres loads

what kinda age camper van you after? Classic bay/split? or T4s, T25 etc?

Not too sure, something realiabe obv'.
Love the old VW Split Screens, but would go for a Merc' camper etc..
When i know how much money i'm getting through, i'm gonna be on the look out for a vehicle.

I wouldn't buy a VW if you want to actually use it. They're small and slow.
Even an old camper will set you back 10k or more. 15k for an OK one and 20k for something vaguely recent.
Insurance isn't really a problem, there are enough people doing it so long as you're old enough. Which raises another point. Make sure you buy something that you can driving with your licence. If you passed after 1997 that means something less than 3.5t, which rules out anything over about 20ft.
