if its for gaming go for the duo not the quad.
you should sell your gfx cards and get a single better card instead

anythings going to be an upgrade from my e5200 lol.

8800 is ok, i have 8800GTS 512mb, it handles even crysis 1 fine, but you could.. sell gfx cards by a single one, get a p5ke mobo and save yourself £50 there too

tbh, i was looking for a long lasting system.
over the next few years isnt sli / xfire supposed to be introduced into more games/ programmes?
before my last system blew, it handled crysis warhead, farcry2,fallout3,mirrors edge all fine....on the highest gfx setting.

Can you still buy P5k MoBo's Russ? My source couldnt get hold of a new one to replace the one i naffed up while doing a BIOS update ( ), so i had to settle for a P5Q

i7's a bit pricey at the mo lol.
my last board was a p5n -e.... that was awesome!
serves me right for fitting a cheap psu... it blew my cpu, board, 2memory sticks and 1 hdd
luckily i recovered the hdd data though.

8800GT is a good card, but the 9600s you have now aren't that different from an 8600. See if you would get enough money for a 9800GTX+ if you sold them. That's a beast of a card.

i was just looking at cpu benchmarks online, and the 6600 is over 1000 points higher (unclocked) than the 8500.
ive also heard running sli gfx with a quad core has added benefits, can anyone confirm this?
a lad i work with has a 280gtx....its a lovely card, a slight bit out of my price range though.

Quite the opposite. There is even rumours that dual graphics card wont supported in windows 7 (although I cant see it happening).
As mentioned above, you can get a decent single graphics card which will rape the two your looking at.
I currently have a single 9800 GTX OCX2 which will play Crysis at Ultra high (hacked to get beyong the default ultra) without any lag issues and without being overclocked (i do have an Intel Extreme CPU though).
For PSUs I would consider the Corsair modular stuff, its pretty good.
