I was looking online for a bigger USB pen drive and found a 64GB one rated at 210x, but it gave no MB/s rating. I did a google search and found an interesting article about the speed rating on CDs which I understand, then it goes to say that the speed rating on DVDs is different due to a hihger density of information per revolution. My question is though, how do they rate a solid state drive that has no moving parts? What is the standard of 1x in these terms?
Here's the article that I read...

Would it not be the speed at which your USB port runs at?
USB 1.1 = 1.5Mbit/sec > 12Mbit/sec (183 kilobytes/sec > 1.4 megabytes/sec)
USB 2.0 = > 480Mbit/sec (57 megabytes/sec)
[1 Megabit = 122 kilobytes]

It may be limited by the speed of the USB, but the 210x speed rating still doesnt make much sense to me on its own.

On my CF cards for my camera the "210x" means that it is 210 MBS but that is for the CF cards i think it could be similar here.
