Not too sure, he got the car from new, remapped, was putting out 280bhp apparently. Was running it on normal unleaded, took a chunk out the valve.
Thats the explination vauxhall gave anyways, new engine with no map and its been fine.
did vauxhall replace it? or did they not because it wasn't standard.

Well, it wasnt vauxhall that did it, went to the vxr performance centre to get done.

vaux dont make the turbos, its a kkk. I never had a single issue with mine?! Have you found the cause of the failure i.e something else is causing acelerated wear on the turbo? Oil feed etc?
Evo is a different ball game to the vxrs, 4k service intervals, expensive parts and an older car to begin with.
Ive never driven a corsa vxr, but the astra was very nice to drive!

I'm a qualified Vaux tech anyway
The only conclusion I and the rest of the Astra fraternity can come up with is KKK are pish turbo's
A vxr will get a garrett with an alcon manifold
Not worth doing it to my gsi anymore.

Why would it not be worth doing it to the GSi? My kkk was 2nd hand when I got it and hasnt missed a beat in the 2 years of abuse its had. I think ive been lucky then

The kkk16 (iirc) are decent turbo's but the kkk ko4 on the gsi and vxr aren't

Yeah, on my c20let. Oh ok, diff turbo's then. Keep the GSi and put a decent Turbo and Manifold on that.
