Anyone know of any good software that you can download to crop tracks to then save so i can transfer them to my fone at good parts of the track

I just use windows movie maker mate, just import the audio and drag the mp3 in the timeline down to the part you want from each end

Not an ideal tool for cropping audio, but yeah audacity is probably the best solution especially as it's free.
Although if you have the Adobe CS packages then Adobe Audition (CoolEdit) is what i would pick, easy to use and includes quite a lot of features
