I got a budget of around £1800 and i was thinking of a corsa 1.2 16v but i noticed a few audi as for sale around the same kind of price. One had 75k on the clock - will they be shitters at them prices??
Thanks

Build wise I couldn't fault mine. I would agree that the 1.6 will be shitty power-wise tho. If you can get the leather interior and the toys then go for it.

to be fair the 1.6 is no race car, but it'll happilycruse along the motorway at 70.
got the missus a 2001 1.6 SE for christmas and must say we are extremely happy.
got the alancatera interior and goodies... even found the sub in one of the side pannels in boot...

i had a 1.8 se before i got my turbo A3 and my S3. the 1.8 non turbo is just a little bit quicker than a corsa 1.4 16v sport. they are a nice car and are a awsome motorway cruisers like tom says.
If you had too choose between the 1.6 and 1.8 go for the 1.8!

If you're going to go for a 'slow' one, make sure it has all the goodies to make driving it that bit more pleasurable.
I keep telling myself that's why I have a GLS 12v

I've got the puny little sub and Bose system but no 6 disk changer
I use mine for its intended purpose - getting from A-B; the car itself is dull and I have a remapped 1.8T Sport. It doesn't have the grin factor of much simpler cars with all its electronic sensory wizardry and gadgets there are still certain corners that I maintain could be taken faster in a corsa 1.2LS than the Deutche barge.
It fine for daily driving and getting to work and piling 420kg or solid wood floor in the back of but for something to make you smile its a no from me

I'm actually really happy with the handling of mine. Not had it on a track, but fast road use is ace. It is a Quattro tho.

it handles well; just not with any degree of factor - tell it to go round a bend at Xmph and it will but it doesn't make me smile when it goes round that bend.
My statement about the corsa going round bends faster is probably a bit of a falicy as the Audi is probably faster, its just with all the "driver aids" the fun factor and feedback is taken away

Audis were never known as well handling/ good feedback cars sadly.

@ replies. His other option was a Corsa remember.
Get it. It wont handle like a 106, but the creature comforts are worth it. You wont realise until you drive it, how much sound deadening the corsa really lacks. My A4 on the motorway might aswel have the engine off Cant hear shit all from outside anyway.

Or if not, get a Mark 4 Golf. They're the same car underneath, but the Golf has more for your money.
