my gf and i have both bought this phone however her one keeps saying sim card registration failed has anyone any idea why it may be doing this, i turned it on during the week to check and it would not work so im thinking it is something to do with maybe the sim card not reaching the connections properly? o2 are doing a terrible job to rectify this problem

a blocked imei would not give the message sim card registration failed or similar. it wouldnt allow phone calls and thats it. when a phone says "sim card registration failed" it means that the sim card has not been assigned to a HLR on that specific network. normally happens when ISAACS networking systems run slow on mobile networks.
my reply wasnt useless- i was pointing out that your reply was bollox. the sentence sim card registration failed preety much sums up that that the sim card hasnt registered on the network.
in this case, the imsi from the sim will now be invalid on the network, and a fresh sim will be needed.

I've seen sim registration failed on many blocked nokiads as well.
Bubble your replys are totally useless, anybody who knew what the acronyms you were using meant wouldn't be on here asking the question.

The handset will ask the IMSI (International mobile subscriber identity) and ICC-ID (Integrated circuit card identifier, that's the number that's printed on your SIM card) from the SIM card along with the GID depending on handset.
This then allows the handset to communicate with the towers and 'sign you on' to the network so your are connected to your account as it were.
It sounds like that SIM cards may either be faulty and havnt been created with the right information on them or that the network has migrated the details yet as there may be a delay. Its also possible that her SIM card may be from a network that the phone is locked from?
Having said that then it would normally cay something different....
Best bet just calling O2 and see what more they can do, and possibly finding somewhere that can atleast read the phone to see what network locks it has and maybe unlock it
It uses that information to talk to the network in orded

Bubble what bollocks, thats EXACTLY what message it would bring up on a nokia, as funnily enough the phone wont register on the network
It could be that the SIM just isnt connected? If it was an Orange one, all are sent out dead so if stolen they cant use your number and rack up a huge bill thats why when you recieve it you have to register/activate it.
Not sure on the procedures of other networks, but im guessing it will probably be similar.
Its more likely thats the case, but best to check with their customer services
