Looking at an upgrade, the only two phones which interest me are the Blackberry Curve or the Nokia E71.
Which is the better phone?

E71 by far imo.
Symbian is a much more supported and developed for platform and the e series build quality is second to none.
Only thing the blackberry has going for it is blackberry email but i've got system 7 on mine and it's not far off perfect.

Thank You
Now have the problem with o2 as they don;t offer the E71 as upgrade online. Does anyone know if they would allow me to upgrade in store but use the online offers?

I got my upgrade over the phone, E71, 600 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited web for 25 a month.
I get all my apps from http://www.ipmart-forum.com/index.php
I was previously using emoze for push email but system seven (think it's got 7 spelled as the word) integrates with the built in messaging better.
I've currently got advanced call manager, handy profiles, handy alarm, copilot, coreplayer and various other rubbish that I don't really need, like field test program like you used to be able to enable on older nokias.

You'll need to sign up to find out how to either hack your phone or get a certificate to sign apps for your phone.
There's not much symbian stuff that you can just install without doing it unfortunately.

Question
The System seven push messaging business....does it cost anything in terms of monthly subscription?
I am already on an Orange contract with free internet etc...

then no, it will use up data though, dependant on how many mails you recieve etc.
Use the nokia programme so much better, designed by nokia to work with your phone, proper addressbook facility looks far better as the OS has its own theme, seven tags on a bunch of shit on the end of your email looks messy and is generaly not as reliable as the nokia messaging programme IME
i used to use seven, i would never go back.
