Where the head-light nearest to the camera is above it is like a smudge of light, ive noticed it on a few of my pics where there is a light source since i started using this lens. The lens is clean.

Its lens flare by the look of it mate, look to the left of the left wing mirror.

No. Better lenses reduce flare. The only other option you have is change angle or take two exposures, one with headlight and one without and combine them and mask the flare out.

A lower aperature? I have always found the lower the apperature when shooting car headlights makes more of a twinkle effect.
F16 for 13secs with a tamron 70-300mm lense


Its only sidelights though.

I also have this issue. A nightmare trying to take a photo with HID headlights in without it glaring.

Good quality lenses with help to combat flare but not 100%.

A combo of RAW shots might be the only answer.

I had a go at editing it out hope you dont mind, I found the best way to get rid of it was using the curves and selectign the area that was affected and feathering the selection so the blended.

cheers people best way to do it was with masks and then i just reverted the headlight back to the original because it looked too bright after messing around with the curves and brightness

What made you pick that over a 24-105mm L, 24-70mm L or a 17-40mm L?

I can't decide which to get, but I'm sick of the 450D kit lens even if it is meant to be miles better than the non-IS version.

Wanted the same focal range as the kit lens just better in low light, tried one of the L one, cant remember which one, but i didnt think the price difference was worth it for the conditions i was wanting it for and the results it gave.
