We're doing some engineering work to put a new traffic light junction in on quite a busy road, and designs where shown at a public consulation. One local resident came up to me and said:
"Putting in a traffic light junction will increase carbon monoxide poisoning with all the cars going off at the same time and carbon monoxide kills"
Bearing in mind the junction will ease congestion.
Old people and development do not go together.

He only has a point if the junction is in an enclosed room.
Is the junction in an enclosed room?

The road is gridlocked during rushhour though. Im sure that gives out more monoxide with the stop start movement.

I would have retorted 'Old age will kill you before a couple of cars sitting at traffic lights will. Deal with it.'

Do cars give out any carbon monoxide anymore?
