A growing one.
Got an email yesterday:
"I have put your name on the list you are 4th on the list the empty plots on
Pymble have currently been allocated and we are awaiting perspective
Allotment Holders to return the paperwork to us.
We will contact you when we have a plot available for you to inspect
"
Guess how many allotments are empty atm?

That's pretty good, some places are years long with hundreds of people. I somehow got one fairly quickly. May make a thread for mine later.

we have a 3-4 year waiting list in Wigan. iirc if there are more than 6 people on the list the council should provide new plots

Looking at some of these pics last week made me sad. my plot used to be lovely. but since my last update ive bred a few chicks and at one point had 25 of the fuckers. Which really took its toll on the grass. enough was enough so last week Ive got rid of a few and made a new pen to split them up a little, and set about getting it back to grass
this is how it was in summer 2010
winter 2010/2011 brought a really cold winter. coupled with the increased amount of birds completly ruined the grass and tbh it never really recovered
so this week during my spare hours Ive made a fence right at the bottom that the birds will be behind for a year or so
can see here the state of the ground
ive now dug it all over and rolled it flat and ordered 10kg of grass seed to do both lawns with. fence in these pics near the sheds is no where near done. its makeshift at the moment till I can pinch some concrete mix from work tomorrow, then it can be leveled up
also today got a roll of felt for the shed roofs and a new union jack flag. both of which were destroyed in the wind a few weeks ago
god bless the long nights and warmer weather. the allotment is grim as fuck in winter
more pics (for those arsed) in the week

get about 80 eggs a week from them at the moment so I sell them. dont really make anything from it, I put it all back into the plot. my birdshave the most space, I feed them the best feeds and use the best bedding ect. we have an open day every year with food and a bar and clowns for the kids ect. in the open day we have a few experts come in and judge the chickens and the eggs. and for 3 years Ive had best egg contents and best hen. so although mine isnt the prettiest, it is the best for the birds
grass seed has just this min been delivered so shall be getting planted tomorrow or friday :d

You are lucky in Belfast / North Down area you will never get a council one (you are literally waiting for someone to die) and all the private ones with plots are about 30 mins drive away.
Nice plot.
