I used to have a K 1.4SRi nova extremely well lucked after and quick off the mark, 0-30 v good, 0-60 acceptable. Thinking of upgrading my 8 valve 1.2 R breeze to a 1999/2000 1.4 Sport. How will it compare to my nova ?

its not 8 secs exactly its 8.38 think need to find the printout, wats big deal a 1.6 is only 200cc bigger than a 1.4 its like a 1.4 taking drugs nothin in it
when mine was standard 14.16 i could keep with the 1.6 could not win but he never got away

They r 4 insurance groups apart and theres only about 15 BHP between them. 1.4 16v makes more sense for value.

depends who you go with for insurance, official vauxhall insurance group for the gsi and sport is group 8 for the 1.6 16v, the SRi and sport 1.4 16v are both grp6....

i drive a 1.4 16v SRI and think that for insurance running costs etc the 1.4 is a better buy! not much really in the performance!

Nice but top speed seems to be lacking for that power.

Insurance group for the gsi is 11 I think, for the sport 10 and for both 1.4 16v's is 6.
The nova sri will seem and be quicker than the corsa sport I would have thought. You'll notice the difference between 8 and 16v's as well. Corsa's are heavy compared to nova's.
Dont bother with a 1.6 sport, get a GSI if going for a 1.6. Or just get another nova sri or gsi.

Go for the 1.4 sport its cheaper to insure its not worth paying 4 more insurance groups more for a 1.6 sport and its more fun to upset people from traffic lights especially when the ask u whats under the bonnet !!!

two ways of looking at it
its only 15 bhp diferrence
but
if you need more power its best to start with the 1.6 an the extra 15

Its more than just 15HP extra!! Look at the torque and capability of the engine! That extra 200cc means more power down low plus a better around town car.
I've driven my friends 1.4 Corsa B and hated ever minute of it!

yes TJ king cause u did !!!!!!!! i drivin the 1.6 sport and i own a 1.4 sport and i never noticed hardly any difference ive noticed more on the gsi 109 bhp dun no where ppl get there info from.
and the reason my top speed is lacking cause the 1.4 u will never get to do 130-140 not built round that has a short gear ratio meaning all the grunt is low down why do u think it needs 16 valves so it can still be acceptable high up, i wanted all my power in the midrange before u even consider tuning a car u should decide where u want the power to be 0-60, midrange or top end or variable

He's right. These boxes are so low geared. Never had more than 115 out of mine.

1.4 and 1.6 both have same F15 box. 1.4 is grp 6 insurance and 1.6 is grp 11-13 depending on insurance company
