so when i deadlock the car, the hazard light will start flashing constantly? if so mine does not do this.
Yes it should do. Does your car deadlock? Put the windows down and deadlock it. If the pins still lift it will be the part in the above thread thats broken. When this is replaced it should fix the alarm aswel!

I'm going to make this even more confusing.
I've got a '98 corsa sport with a key with an LED light on it, no sort of obvious way to arm/disarm any sort of alarm. Not that long ago I noticed a power sounder under the bonnet beside the brake fluid bottle though - plus I've got one of those things that senses if your bonnet is up or not.
Do I have an alarm and if so how do I arm and disarm it?

You have a LED on the key or on the hazard switch?
Sorry, LED on the key is just the torch to find your keyhole.
I've got an LED on the hazard switch as well though.
Should flash when your car is deadlocked. This means the alarm is then active.

So just to clarify: how do I deadlock the car and how do I put the alarm off if it starts going off?

to deadlock the car you need to turn the key 90 degrees to the left and remove the key. Only works drivers side i think. Not sure how to turn the alarm off though.
