Hi,

I'm after some new tyres to go on a set of alloys I recently bought. But I'm not sure what the best tyres are, I want to make sure I buy the right ones becuase the rears especially are going to be on the car for a while.

I've been told Proxies are good but that they wear quickly, and that's not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is a tyre thats grippy (but doesn't need to be amazingly grippy for taking corners at 200MPH, I'm a careful driver) but I want them to be able to last a fair while.

Anyone got any suggestions? What do you all have?

Hi Fonzy

I have Yokohama S-Drives on my alloys, they work pretty good. Except in snow

Yes it does! I won't be driving like a fanny but even then; 6k is a bit low.

I think im going for the uniroyal rainsport 2's, has anyone had any experience with these? Does anyone know how long they last under normal driving conditions?

EF1s.

Have tried a few different tyres on the XE and I cannot fault these. Had Proxies T1S's and PX4's or whatever they're called and while they're great in the dry they give absolutely no confidence in the wet. The Eagle F1s are grippy in any conditions, but the only thing that puts me off them is the price; £115 delivered for two 195/45/15's is the best I could find.

I've come to the conclusion that so long as a buy a brand name tyre and not "jeffs tyres" which he moulded together in his shed - I'll be fine.
