basically i wanna play the films i have on my hdd through my xbox and was just wondering if this was possible, and if so how easy is it to do?

If you've got it networked you can share them through your PC and use Windows media center on the xbox to stream them

... xbox 360 won't read NTFS - so it needs to be formatted to FAT (maximum file single file size is 4GB so no good for HD films) or HFS (mac operating system format)...
best off sharing it like Cavey said.

Yes mate, I just plug mine into the USB and it works straight off. Plays DivX and everything. Great little media centre really

In theory, yes.
I have a 500GB hard drive formatted to FAT though...?
It came like that and confused me somewhat...
