Over the years my brother and i have been to see Ross Noble on his tours (Brighton once and Oxford twice) he has come on delivered an hours show, interval for 15mins returning with another hour and then 15min encore answering all many of silly questions!
on Saturday i went to see Russell Howard in Bournemouth. at 8 o'clock a warm up guy came out, he was funny and a good laugh but nothing special. after 15mins i was wondering where this was going, after 25mins he thanked Bournemouth and there was a 30min interval!
at 9 o'clock Russell came out and did an hours stand up, with a 15min encore of questions.
now maybe i am too used to Ross Noble to know any different but is it the norm to have a "warm up" guy??? my brother and i were completely confused by the whole situation having never had it with Ross Noble....were we short changed by Russell or does Ross give his fans their monies worth?

I think because Noble goes so much of the audience he has a lot more to say, as you know he will just go off on a several tangents where as if Howard follows a script more or less then his act will tend to be shorter.

My mate was crying about this exact thing the other day, he's even writing a letter of complaint about it.

I think he's pretty annoying and unfunny on 8 out of 10 cats.
That does seem a tad crappy though. Sounds like short changed and like Noble goes to the other extreme

Aren't tickets for Howard's show about £10?

Not a fan of Russel Howard at all.
I'd rather pay an extra £15 and go see Jimmy Carr. Both times I've seen him hes done an hour followed by a 15 min break and then another hour + encore.

i went to russel howards gig in nottingham, on thursday. dingledobies or something its called. and im assuming the same warm up act performed at the gig you went to as the one i did. some northern bloke, forgot his name. as you said.. quite funny but found russel much better
great gig tbh.

Frankie Boyle had a warm up act on. I'm not a fan of Russel Howard, for every 10 jokes I probably laugh at 3 or 4max.

Warm up acts are meant to set the tone for the act to follow, Howard will seem funnier as the warm up act dissapoints on purpose.
Noble for me is the better comedian, mainly because his humour is so close to my own, I understand it totally, like the recent chat about 'meat flaps' above your eyes and shit, I like all that random rubbish talk.
