We have a BES, running 2k3 server.

Over the weekend it seems something has died on the hdd's, asking for dll's etc to load.

Went to reinstall operating system and the installer can't see any hdd's (2 raided)

Any ideas ? Running diagnostics on the machine at the moment but to be honest quite stumped now.

Doesnt the OS need a RAID driver to be loaded up when it starts up to detect it? I remember early versions of Windows XP/2000 needing the same thing for SATA/RAID etc?

Yeah it does, that all loads fine.

Tried safe mode, loads 3 dll's then says missing dll's for kernal. So i cant boot the machine, and i cant reinstall.

Worth formatting using a usb adaptor and trying that way or am i only letting myself in for more pain in your opinion ?

Whats your backup plan?

I would double and tripple check you have the right drivers for the RAID controller cause I can't see how the controller is seeing the drives as OK and no problems yet the installer can't see the drive :S

If you are 100% the data is a goner then you could try re-making the raid by deleting the disk and re-creating it? what mode of raid are you usign?

That server was never backed up, we have no network admin as such, i just get told to fix stuff when its broken

Will check all the drivers and check the config, using Raid 0 Sucks !

ok RAID 0, no problems. I'd try bining the correct stripped drive and recreating a new one.
