Qudos to those who do it. I've got a lot of respect for them, but its certainly not something i could do.

A few of my mates have joined the forces, id suggest trying to get a specialisation though and not just a regular soldier unless thats what you want, come out with a lot of recognised qualifications

And post traumatic stress, right laugh.

As said, good luck to all those that do do it.

On the other hand some folk love it. You've got to be a very strong person both mentally & physically.

Do your time & get out & into private security abroad - big mullah to be made in that.

I cant get my head around my 1st sweeping statement though, below avg wage to have some durka durka mohammad taking shots at you & spending most of the year in a tent in a complete shit hole!! Not for me!!

not all jobs are on the front line?

plus think you dont have to pay for anything while your in the army...

and as a previous poster said if you specialise in an area you can get very good qualifications which can benefit you when you leave

Of course but theres more chance of a RPG or mine taking you out than working in Tesco

You dont have to pay for anything? Like what? Ive read about troops having to buy their own body armour & stuff because the conditions are that bad.

Thats true, im not having a dig at the guys that do it, Im just saying its not for everyone!!

In my opinion, you don't join the army for money you join it for the lifestyle, in this economic climate it wouldnt surprise me if it got a lot harder to join the forces, as many more people will probably be trying to join. I want to join the RMP (Royal Military Police) but i cant see it happening

One of my mates joined the army, he had a girlfriend & kid & worked as a butcher in town.

One day he just decided he hated life & signed up to the army as a cook, hes been to iraq & afganistan now & serves up beans out of a tent. Last I heard he had told some other mates he was gay
