right today my engines munched through 10 litres of oil
has a loud tapping noise
and when started pours out pumes of smoke out the exhaust
so guessing a new engine is needed?
thing is i can't afford a new engine really
what would i best off doing?

Maybe a bit of investigation, could have shit a ring or valve stem oil seal, Really could go either way to how bad the damage is.

what about for someone that has never took an engine apart and doesnt work with them?
give it to someone that knows and let them find out?

alot of oil for it to be stem seals and if its shat a ring it will have scored the bores, have you checked all the levels and is the oil coming out anywhere other then as smoke from he rear?

all the levels were fucked
oil came out the exhaust and pissed out the engine onto the floor from somwhere
and no havent got breakdown cover, it run out yesterday which annoyed me even more

engine does run
but the tappets aren't getting any oil
and its dumping oil faster than i put it in

how much is leaking on the floor? sure you havnt damaged the sump or somthing? cuz surly couldnt use that much oil without it leakin from somwhere

check the block for holes? was the head torqued down properly

im guessing it has been running since the head gasket was done? who done it and were the head bolts the right length? the pikey who done it probly got the wrong head bolts and used washers on them

yeah been running ages since it was done
and a mobile mechanic i know did it
so is it a full engine strip down and start again?
