i'm doing a driving experience day at thruxton on saturday and decided to make a weekend out of it, going to southampton and possibly portsmouth and brighton afterwards.

is there anything decent to visit here? not really into clubs and that, just nice restaurants and places to go to with my girlfriend.

cheers

Pompey has the historical dockyard and the D-Day museum and walking along the beach is decent.

Gun Wharf Quay and Ikea in Soton.

d-day museum sounds good, as long as it doesn't rain the beach should be good

Go and visit the home of top flight football on the south coast.

Or at least go and have a look at fratton park, and have a laugh at how old and tatty the place looks now compared to other conference teams grounds.

Gun Wharf Quay isn't in Southampton? Its West Quay in Southampton

In Portsmouth you've also got Spinnaker Tower which is worth a punt.

Southampton's got Ocean Village, Shamrock Quay, Driver's Wharf etc; few nice bars/restaurants down by the marina's.

I lived in S'oton for 4 years

Spinnaker tower wasnt everything i thought it out to be
Was funny pretending the lift was broken whilst pressing the button (outside the lift) to go down, my gf went nuts and refused to get in it
The phobia of lifts is apparently not funny

My Favourite restaurant in S'oton is La Regatta; right opposite the Red Funnel Terminal; its a spanish place with an amazing atmosphere. TBH though if you want to make a night of it - head around Ocean Village; 2 cinemas, loads of bars and restaurants; the marina is nice to walk around
