Go to a proper running shop. They have different designs for different types of runner. Would only buy online if I found some elsewhere, tried them on, but found them cheaper online.

Go to a propper sports shop, like SweatShop, as they'll help you choose a pair that suits your running style - worse thing you can do is pick up a pair of trainers that don't fit properly.

If you find a pair you like then hunt them down online

Don't worry about how they look, they all make you look slightly special. If you have the money go to a specialst shop, if you don't have a scout around, I bought some that had been reduced, pretty sure I looked on internet about which were suddosedly good for wider feet and went from there.. Got some mid range asics in the end, look shit but do the job.

Nice one, I've a high arch too albeit self diagnosed (if you look at the print your foot makes you can tell) obviously needs to be sweaty etc on an surface you could see it.

Now for the boring bit, enjoy your running!

Wet foot test. Can't fault it for self diagnosis.
