What do you guys use in your offices?
were still on paper at our place, its a joke, theres no need, its a waste of paper
Heres a typical scenario:
Answer Phone
Take Vehicle Details (Reg, Chassis, Model (All written down))
Note which part or parts the customer requires
Look up the parts on Eper
Write down part numbers
check price and availability on the computer
Take Customer details (name, address, telephone number, delivery address, card details (again all written down))
Invoice
Then upstairs, whoever is doing the parcelling, takes the invoice and comes all the way downstairs for this piece of paper
Takes it back upstairs
Processes payment
Then eventually its filed away in a folder
Now surely there must be systems where all those details could be kept in the computer to save paper and time by coming downstairs to find these orders?
Also once inputted, the next time the customer wants to order a part all their details could be brought up? i.e vehicle details, address, previous order history?
Im after some ideas really, its such a waste of paper and time

Simple database would solve the problem - wouldnt even need anything custom, off the shelf would probably do it.

Is it heck, you could probably get some local computer company to set up a simple network with a simple customer DB for not so much.

The amount of paper we get through is shocking tbh and it's not cheap let alone the environmental effects...

We're doing something similar.
Our shops are going through a stupid amount of order pads (we have 3 types of order pads - bridal, bridesmaids, accessories, each order is a 3 copy thing). We're talking with a EPOS supplier to make a custom bridal EPOS as it'll probably end up being cheaper buying that (even if its an initial £10-15k outlay) than buying pads for the next 5yrs!

Thinking about it, half of this stuff is already there.. We use a system called ego ugenix. I wonder if it's just a matter of getting it all tied in together..
having a read on their website, it really all should be..

I dont know the system, but even if you dont go to the expense of getting it joined together, you could probably get a suitable (semi) off the shelf package that'll get rid of the paper and allow upstairs to view things without coming down.
