Was heating up a meal in the microwave, on a plate that's a few years old and is microwave safe... 4 minutes into heating the food up the plate exploded

I'm scared of using the microwave now

Theres no food on the plate? Do you warm the palte up first then put the (cold) fod ontop hoping its ready to eat?

No it was a microwave meal and the food was in two seperate pouches.

And yes, I just can't be arsed Never really use the microwave TBH, but for today's dinner meal it was either use that for 8 mins total or put the bags in boiling water for 30 mins...
