you sound awfully american saying clip old chap, because, as always the americans have it wrong as a clip (sometimes known as a bandolier) feeds old style rifles, and looks like this:


whereas the Kalashnikov aka AK47 uses a fixed magazine to feed the rounds into the chamber.

the M1 Garand used clips yes. however, that particular clip wasn't used by them, as they used a setup called "en bloc" which was 4 rounds side by side, but the principal was the same.
