Trying to put movies on my PS3 but they won't work due to them being in avi. format.
What format do I need to change it to and what's the best program?

ps3's seem to play most avi codecs, never had problems so far. Only issue i have had is getting the PS3 to see a USB flash stick with the video files on, but sorted it by creating a directory/folder on the stick called VIDEO and copying everything to that - shows up fine now

I'll try putting it in a VIDEO folder then as when I done it I just put it on the root of the memory stick.
Cheers

Yeah, any video files in the root of the drive don't get picked up (tried this with an external usb drive, ipod and flash stick). Put them in a directory called VIDEO and the PS3 then detects the video files, odd but hey ho.....
^^ This is only if you're playing the avi's from an external drive or wanting to copying them to the PS3

Done what you said, got a picture but the sound is messed up
It just sounds like a load of squeaks and noises
And it works fine on the computer.

PS3 up to date? As i know there were a number of changes in the recent firmware.
Do you know what format/codec the video is encoded with? Supported Video Formats

Any idea why the sound is jumbled up? I've got 2 that are un-watchable due to sound and one that is perfect.
