Think I might have some sort of virus on my PC

I've started to get a few random pop-ups apprearing this morning, never had any before and when on Google, if I click a link it doesn't take me to the website stated, it re-directs me to something totally random and un-related.

Anyone any ideas? Or is there something I can download to search my computer and get of anything that shouldn't be on here?

I'm a total noob when it comes to stuff like this, so the easier the better please

http://www.free-av.com/

The first 2 programs you need to install and run at least once a month, the AV wil update itself, spybot needs to be updated manually

What sort of pop-ups are they, web based ones or balloons from the task tray (next to the clock)?

If the programs Danny has suggested don't help, try following the instructions here and post up the logs so that they can be checked to ensure your computer is clean.

There web based pop ups.

A little balloon popped up earlier so I clicked it and it seems to have installed some Windows Defender or summat Seems to have worked anyways.

Going to run them programmes posted by Danny an all just to make sure.

Cheers chaps

Windows Defender isn't all that tbh.

What version of Windows are you on?

If it's not Vista, check the exact name of that program that installed and let me know what it is.
