Need a switched live for my oil pressure and oil temp gauges, want them to turn on when i turn the key ect 
What colour wire should i scotch block them to??

Think it black or just use the wires from the cigarette lighter wiring

i used a red wire from the back of the headunit

You can get all the wires you need from the back of the radio, Don't use scotch locks!
Have you got access to a soldering iron?

Yes i have a soldering iron  so i guess ill just plonk it on the red wire behind my headunit and it should turn on when i turn the key??

Red is generally permant live and black is switched live.
Test the red with a multimeter to see if it has no power with ignition off.
