cant decide whether to sell the golf and buy this :-

106 PEUGEOT 106 GTi 98 (S Reg), blue, lots of extras. 4,200 ono. 52k

extras are just alloys exhaust & cd multi changer

i reckon i can get it for 4k and then sell the golf for 1k but im sorta stuck in 2 minds as i really love the golf

As much as i like the Pug I would agree with Ditch keep the Golf and maybe invest a little more in her. The mk2 GTI 16v' are cracking cars and as long as it's running well why change.

Agree - I run a Mk2 Golf GTi as my second car. Only cost me £750 and once I'd sorted a few minor probs out, it's been brilliant. No rust, under 8 secs to 60 and great handling out of the box. Ditch that scrat-box Peugeot

All i would say is that 52k is quite high especially for a 106 and £4200

52k is about right, thats quite low and doesnt really matter as long as the engines been serviced reguarly thats more important

You'd probably have me up to around 70mph - after that the extra torque and grunt of the Golf would see you off. Remember too that the Mk2 Golf was and still is one of the best handling hatches around, so it'd be a good match for your 106 in the twisty stuff.

But I think you've missed the point - my cheap old Golf is used as my shopping/hacking car, not my quick car. Think that says plenty about your 106

plus as i already said i have a set of wheels & 30mm lowering kit waiting to go on,

and it only costs me £257 to insure it!

cause i live in the Isle of Man - they dont steal or break into cars over here!

plus im 25 & have 5yrs NCD

spec is that is bog standard apart from piperX panel, braided brake hose kit & eye brow spoiler. none of which are on the pics as they are from months ago

and i have a set of hockeheims & 30mm lowering kit waiting to go on

and after that the only other thing to do is get a full exhaust system. then it wont be getting anything else done to it. wanna keep it subtle & sweet
