At dinner they flew over work - 4 of em in diamond formation. Must have been 50,000ft dunno what they were but they had 3 engines each wing. Never seen anything like it before really.

they used to fly over my uncles house all the time, but then again they lived nesr an airbase. guess u dont?

No, normally they dont fly over so high - you could only tell how many engines they had by the trails they left - they were like specks though - wouldnt have thought they'd taken off from the UK to be honest.

i dont know any bombers that have 3 engines on each wing...

B52s often fly in diamond formation however they have 4 each wing

well if they were at 50,000ft then theres no way u would of heard anything,

also its very unlikely any bomber would be that high, even if it was crusing, they very rarely go over 37,000ft.

Spy planes usally are in the 50-70,000ft range.

not really a plane spotter,

My dad use to take me to all the air craft shows when i was younger and ive always been kinda intro flight,

Thats why i wanna be a pilot

tiger can you remeber what colour the trail was coming from the engines?

Was it like a Dark smokey colour almost black or was it white ?

i'v always wondered what the planes r that r way way in the sky and they leave a hugh white trail with them.

Its when the moisture is squeezed out of the air by the pressure indiffernces above and below the wing - commonly know as vapour trails, can happen at any altitude.

Light coloured trails Painz.

B1 have a bank of two engines under each wing at the back, B52's ahve 2 banks of 2 engines under each wing. very big

I think what you saw was a B52, and what you thought was the third engine was actually an external fuel tank.
