I've "broke" into mines both times and no damage done at all.
First time, we used a u-shaped piece of metal and slipped it down the outside of the window, and caught on to the metal rod.
Second time, i used a piece of welding wire, pulled the door out enough to slip it in, then just moved the wire untilit caught on to the button.
Piece of p1ss to be quite honest, real worrying when you think about it though.

My door was fully closed. Welding wire is thin as string, you just pull the top of your door open a touch then slip it in and let the door go.
Anyway, you done the right thing not trying to break into it.
