Author IF you blank your EGR, what do you do with the wiring loom plug??

So you blank the egr off.
but the wire that pluggs into it is still there.
this will cause the E.M.L to stay on, and probably make the car run shitty.

Any one done this and know what to do?

I think a lot of people leave the egr plugged in and secure it somewhere. Never done it myself tho so I'm not certain

So what is the benifit from removing it from the engine block?

You mite aswell leave it there. im confused.

Even tho it's still plugged in, it isn't recirculating the exhaust gas as it's supposed too, but as far as the ecu is concerned, everything is working fine

So does the engine run better when its blanked then? is it just something to make it ecological?

The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gas back into the inlet manifold so that it can be used again and therefore lower emmisions.

I'm not sure what difference removing it makes tbh

Can't remember how it works but it warms the catalytic converter up faster to cut emmisions from a cold start.

Again, a lot of people bin it

the egr as stated re-circulates some exhaust gas to lower emissions

haveing it connected will have minimal impact on performance, so to the sai valve aswell.

you might aswell leave them on.

What if the egr is throwing up the eml light?

If its still blanked and left plugged in will the eml light go off?

If you blank it inlet temperatures can be slightly lower (-1 degree = +1bhp) and in addition if its not got hot gas flowing through then its likely to not fail and throw up the EML

If you have a standalone management system you can blank it off.

ive got it blanked on my astra, it makes the car run better

I put the blanking plate on and secured the EGR to one side leaving it plugged in
