There a local place down on Hastings sea front I've been to a few times (http://www.webfrenzy.co.uk)

Its has chocolate + drinks you can buy behind the counter, aswell as hardware and games. They've been going quite sometime so if you attract the right crowd it'll definately be worth it.

Jonny, if its that successful that I start needing employees the missus will quit her full time job and join me first

Not sure I would do selling the hardware side of things, unless they pre-ordered it, keeping up with hardware changes is a difficult task

They had one of these type of businesses in the Corner House at Nottingham last year, shut down now though. Was always empty, never saw anyone in it (went past it once a week for a year).

Including things like a small restaurant and bar on site, I thought it may be pretty profitable if I priced it for the large student population in Lincoln....just wondering if anyone would pay per hour to play against their mates in this way, or is online "free" gaming good enough....?

Then I thought about the possible amount of legislation, obviously theirs the 'Think 25' shit for alcohol, but even for the age limit on some games, like GTA, where kids will have access to them at home but wouldnt be allowed by law to play them in my 'arcade' so to speak?

Anyone looked into it before?

Been around for years, used to go to one in Reading when I was in school.

Personally I wouldnt sell alcohol, as you've got all the problems of becoming licensed, a mixed age group so do you ban u18's, chances of attracting chavs and it getting rowdy in there with drunk people, extra cost of needing security?

As Willay said, Multiplay have been around for a while.

I used to work for a Lan Gaming center near me, which have franchises all around the world called Wireworld.

Infact, if you head over to their archives and scroll right to the bottom, you will see an extremly nerdy me at 14yrs old winning the first delta force tournament.

I worked there for several years and it was always an exciting place to be, it was quite social and they also had a license for alcohol

We held regular late night Toca/CS/Unreal tournaments till 3/4am.

In general, I would say they dont make a great deal of money, not enough to have a lavish lifestyle.

With the rate at which new games come out and PC outdate, you'll find yourself constantly spending alot upgrading.

They make a reasonable amount from kids birthday parties with food/drink etc.

If you have any questions, drop me a pm

As internet connections get faster there becomes less and less need for LAN gaming, about 10 years too late.

http://www.crossfire.uk.net

They are making an absolute killing in Swansea.

Majority of the money comes in from people buying food and other junk......

I've been looking around for ages for a decent site in Torfaen close enough to a BT exchange to bond a few ADSL lines together..... but nothing seems to have crept up as of yet.

That crossfire looks brilliant, no way do I have the technical know how to put together a site or stats packages like they have though!

As I say it was just an idea, Ill do some research into it but I dont have the capital to put into it anyway so it may just stay as an idea in the back of my mind

I dont think this is as bad as people make out, buy the right hardware at the start and you should be able to play the latest PC games for 1-2 years. Once the PC or components is outdated you just replace it and sell the old kit for a cheap price and a fresh install of $operatingsystem. Sorted.

The website is a piece of piss, it's pretty much all set-up like that anyway, just need to upload the files to a host (website) and run the install file, configure your settings and you're away.
