Just after a bit of advice;
Basically i want a camera and lens bundle and there's various models at similar prices being:
Sony A230 18-55 lens - £349
Olympus E420 14-42 lens - £290
Olympus E420 14-42 lens and 40-150 lens £380
Olympus E520 14-42 lens £359
Canon EOS 1000D 18-55 lens £355
Nikon D60 18-55 lens £372
Obviously the Olympus E420 is by far the cheapest and I really am a very amateur photographer at the moment so is it worth spending the extra for a different camera? And if I were to go for the E420 is it worth the extra £90 for the 40-150 lens?
Cheers

or I MIGHT be able to get the Sony A200 18-70 lens for £260, or £340 with 55-200 lens as well...

Personally I went down the Nikon route and was pleased I did.
In the low spec cameras the Canon's offer more features like an auto focus motor in the body rather than the lens.
But for ease of use and general quality I would choose Nikon every time

I got the D60, and it's great, did get it cheaper than that though, but I know the Nikons went back up in price a few months back.
Bought a Tamrom 70-300 the other day for it as well, which is really nice for a budget lens

Maybe take a look on ebay for something 2nd hand.
I would say take a look at the nikon D50, it has the autofocus motor built in, which means that you wont get raped when buying new lenses. That and the fact that the D40/D60 are neither classed as an upgrade of it, you might aswell go for that!

I've had a Nikon D40 for over 2 years now and only now am I looking for things it doesn't have.
With good quality glass the beginner cameras can easily hold there own against the higher end DSLRs.
