I may have skewed the truth slightly and asked for no injection as I hated the feeling of the needle Instead of the injection I had the fail safe method of raising my hand whenever he hit a nerve

i didnt go to dentist in about 8 years, apart from the orthodontist when i had braces few years back, luckily just needed a small filling and a scale and polish, and apparently my wisdom teeth are not doing anything so they wont need touching and now i just need to go back every 6 months .... pheewww!
dentists give me the shakes ! scary and they are sooo expensive!
does anyone else go private? soooo much better!!!

Glad I don't have anything that bad! I'll stick with my 3 chipped teeth and my aching wisdom tooth that is coming through

Private isn't always better, just depends on the dentist really, for instance a dentist that mainly does private, might be worse at doing things than an NHS one.

Brushing your teeth and not going to the dentist doesn't work either.
I don't know why people get so worried, I don't particularly like them grinding away at my teeth for a filling but I'd rather that than have the tooth missing instead.
That's true, you can be the cleanest person about but sometimes things happen that have nothing to do with hygene, like a missbehaving wisdom tooth for example that grows forward creating a cavity in your last molar, I've just had a filling because of this and everything seems good now but I love the needle in the gum, that tingly 'just had a stroke' sensation is quite cool.

Not at all, most private dentists tend to be quite slack, just leave small cavities to grow to bigger ones in order to make them more of a repair job, and tend to charge more, £60 is better than £25.
Faye's been working on ENT ward at her hospital where she works and the amount of people with tooth/gum problems on that ward that curse their private dentist is unreal.

Not really, as if a dentist who is private isnt any good then they dont get the business and therefore paid, where as an NHS dentist will just continually get his wage and a long line of patients no matter how good.
The best thing about going private is that you wont have to wait as long to see one, and that they'll often have the best equipment.

yes really.
They might get the job done EVENTUALLY but might take longer meaning more £££ for no reason and the average person doesn't know about techniques etc all they care is it looks good in the end.
If an NHS dentist continuously does a shit job, they get struck off the dental register.
Wages aren't that simple, some get payed a wage PAYE others mostly work whats called general practise, where the NHS pays them for whats done.

The dentist we registered with does mainly private work but also NHS (with like literally a 3 month wait).
According to my other half who does actually go to dentists for checkups/fillings etc. on a regular basis she reckons he is very good, much better than the private dentist she used to use when she lived at home.
I think he's a good dentist too, because he actually explained to me what he was going to be doing and answered all my questions, put my mind at ease etc. as I was shitting myself (well the last time I went to a dentist was when I was a kid!).
It's quite posh looking inside my dentists and decked out with modern computers and equipment, plus I get a text to remind me when my next appointment is coming up

Spanner in the works, I agree with him Cozzy, and you how loaded I am, I am absolutely fucking minted it's unreal, although I'm still private, I'm just lucky I have a genuine dentist who does do the right thing.
