Author Excel conditonal formating - any ideas

ive got a spread sheet that i want to stay blank (ie no fill colour) unless when i enter text

for example when i enter text into field A1 i want the whole row to go red unless it has text in which i then want to go green

had a look on the excel forums but not sure how to do it, any ideas ?
